SUMMARY (BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB)
Monitor and assess the nutritional status of patients as it relates to disease state including patients on enteral and parenteral nutrition.  Counsel and instruct patients according to prescribed diet. Must be able to adapt standard diets to individual physical, cultural and socioeconomic conditions and religious preferences.

SUMMARY (ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES)
1.       Screen and assess patients per protocol.
2.       Develop a plan of intervention as indicated.
3.       Implement and monitor plan.
4.       Provide nutrition counseling to patients and/or families.
5.       Document assessments and consultations within specified time frames.
6.       Attend appropriate interdisciplinary meetings, medical and nursing rounds.
7.       Act as a consultant and educator to other members of the health care team.
8.       Participate in performance improvement activities.
9.       Supervise student activities as requested.
10.   Conduct peer review activities.
11.   Participate in the development and / or revision of educational materials and standards of care.
12.   Complete all annually required training.
13.   Function as a consultant and a resource to other health care professionals, dietetic staff and the community.
14.   Remain abreast of current trends in nutrition.
15.   Participate in center-initiated research.

SUMMARY (ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES - CONTINUED)
Must possess knowledge of growth and development of the adolescent and geriatric population.  Must be able to use this knowledge in assessing patients and in determining a plan of care.Must be able to use appropriate communication skills in educating the geriatric and adolescent population. The work environment involves occasional exposure to blood borne pathogens and infectious diseases.  The noise level is moderate.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor of Science in Nutrition from an accredited institution. Registered Dietitian License.Must have specific experience working with Diabetic Adult patient population.
